There's Power In The Pause

There's Power In The Pause

We don’t like the pause.

It feels uncertain. Unproductive. Uncomfortable.
The world around us says go faster, be more, do better.
But sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is—pause.

Maybe your life isn’t as full or exciting as it once was.
Maybe your plans have slowed down.
Or maybe you’re in a season that feels painfully quiet.

And you’re wondering… is this season wasted?

Here’s the truth: Pauses are not punishments. They’re preparation.

In Scripture, we see it again and again:

  • David was anointed as king—but he waited in hidden fields and caves.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” – Psalm 27:14

  • Jesus withdrew for 40 days before stepping into His public ministry.

“Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” – Luke 4:1

  • Even creation was built with rest in mind.

“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested.” – Genesis 2:2

God does something holy in the pause.
It’s where He reminds us who we are.
Where we stop striving and start trusting.
Where roots grow deep, not wide.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

If you’re in a season that feels slower, smaller, or quieter than you expected…
You’re not behind. You’re being held.

God is not rushing you.
He’s not disappointed in your pace.
He’s forming something steady and deep within you.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14

Let the pause do its work.
Let it shape you.
Let it settle you.
Let it remind you that you are not what you produce. You are already enough.

You’re still seen. Still called. Still deeply loved.
Even here. Especially here.

With you in the pause,
Samantha Taylor
