When Gratitude Doesn’t Come Easy: Learning to Thank God in Every Season
Share
It’s easy to be thankful when life feels good — when prayers are answered, the house is calm, and everyone’s happy.
But what about the days that feel slow or hard?
What about the times when nothing seems special?
God still calls us to give thanks in every season.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says,
“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
That means we don’t have to be thankful for everything — but we can be thankful in everything. Even when life is messy, we can trust that God is still good.
1. Gratitude Is a Choice We Make Every Day
Some mornings, gratitude feels easy. The coffee is warm, the kids are smiling, and the day feels light.
Other mornings? Not so much.
Being grateful always doesn’t come from how life looks — it comes from where we place our trust.
We can thank God because He never changes, even when our feelings do.
2. Gratitude Turns Ordinary Moments Into Holy Ones
We often thank God for the big things — new jobs, answered prayers, or special moments.
But Colossians 3:17 reminds us:
“Whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
That means even the small things count.
Folding laundry, driving to work, or making dinner can all be acts of worship when done with a thankful heart.
Gratitude helps us see God in the middle of normal days.
3. Gratitude in Hard Time Makes Our Faith Strong
Some seasons hurt.
Some days are heavy.
But even then, we can still choose gratitude.
In Habakkuk 3:17–18, it says:
“Though the fig tree does not bud… yet I will rejoice in the Lord.”
That means we can thank God even when life doesn’t look the way we hoped. Gratitude in hard times builds strong faith. It reminds us that God is still working, even when we can’t see it.
A Word for the Woman in Her Everyday Life
If life feels slow or quiet right now, that’s okay.
You’re not missing out — you’re in the middle of where God is teaching you.
Being grateful doesn’t mean pretending life is perfect.
It just means seeing God’s hand in small moments.
💛 Final Encouragement
Gratitude doesn’t make the pain disappear.
But it brings peace.
It turns waiting into worship.
And it helps us see that even today — right here — God is good.
